Cinematic, contemplative, narratively ambitious. CT Dokument is Czech Television's documentary film strand for high-end auteur documentary. The Czech documentary film tradition — from the Czechoslovak New Wave to today — is strongly present. The tone is personal, observational, often poetic. Stories are told with patience, on-camera protagonists portrayed with respect and intimacy. Social and political subjects are illuminated from a human perspective.
Cinematic quality at international festival level. The Czech documentary film school has a strong visual tradition. Expected: careful camerawork, considered composition, atmospheric lighting design. Archive material used creatively and carefully. Experimental approaches welcome if they serve the story. Sound design and music deployment at high level.
